Lack of UK ethanol demand partly to blame for beer shortage during World Cup

In the UK, local press reports that if the government won’t provide the required demand for ethanol under an E10 policy to keep the Ensus facility operating year-round, the country is bound to continue having CO2 shortages like the recent one that saw beer stocks run out during the World Cup. The Ensus ethanol plant is one of five CO2 producers supplying the national food and drinks industry. After Ensus came back online early last week following routine maintenance, it was able to again supply CO2 and JD Wetherspoon said they had beer in time for the England match against Colombia.
