Kenya fires three revenue officials for illegally auctioning condemned ethanol

In Kenya, the Daily Nation newspaper reports the government is cracking down on corruption within the country’s revenue authority, firing three officials who were found to have illegally auctioned ethanol that had been confiscated and set for destruction back in 2016. The agency is coming under increased scrutiny lately after imports of raw sugar were diverted for human consumption under what is becoming one of the largest corruption scandals in the country’s history that could end up toppling the current government.
