European industry wants EU to sign Mercosur trade deal once and for all

In Belgium, industry is urging the European Commission to sign free trade deal with the Mercosur countries next week before Brazil heads into election season and puts the agreement on hold yet again. Mercosur is still seeking a higher ethanol quota than had been offered previously, a move resisted by the European ethanol industry. Sugar, beef and other agri products as well as tariffs on automobiles and intellectual property remain key sticking points to the tying up the agreement.
