US glycerin market seen balancing during Q3

July 18, 2018 |

In Texas, ICIS reports that glycerin production will ramp up during the second half the year, helping to bring the market into balance. The market has suffered from tightness through to Q3 as a major Midwest producer shut down in Q1 that caused panic among buyers, forcing them to buy up in advance and pushing up prices. Tightness in southeast Asia is seen easing up as biodiesel production picks up while in Europe the surplus situation is likely to ease. Latin America’s supply will depend mostly on the Argentine-EU biodiesel trade fight.
