August 20, 2018 |

In Zimbabwe, an Egyptian entrepreneur is looking to invest $140 million into a facility that will convert 800 metric tons of MSW into biodiesel and electricity owned and operated by a local start-up, Tawanda Energy. Electricity will be sold to the national grid at 14 cents per kW and biodiesel will be sold at 70 cents per liter. Tawanda Energy is already involved in the development of another $10 million biorefinery that will produce electricity, biodiesel and biogas from human waste in partnership with a Germany technology company.
