Ethanol production hits largest reserves in 22 weeks

In Washington, D.C., ethanol production averaged 1.073 million barrels per day (b/d)—or 45.07 million gallons daily, up 1,000 b/d from the week before, according to government data released and analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association. The four-week average for ethanol production reached 1.077 million b/d for the second consecutive week—a high for 2018. This is equivalent to an annualized rate of 16.51 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol were 23.3 million barrels. That is a 1.3% expansion over last week and the largest reserves in 22 weeks. There were zero imports recorded for the 37th week in a row. (The latest export data is as of June 2018.)

Average weekly gasoline demand contracted by 0.6% to 9.453 million barrels (397.0 million gallons) daily. This is equivalent to 144.91 billion gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol thinned by 0.5% to 943,000 b/d, equivalent to 14.46 billion gallons annualized. The ethanol content in gasoline supplied to the market ticked up to an average of 9.98%. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production increased to 11.35%.
