Malaysia teams with FGV to get smallholder oil palm farmers certified sustainable

September 4, 2018 |

In Malaysia, the primary industries ministry will team with FGV to help small holder farmers achieve the national sustainable palm oil certification. At the moment, only 20% of palm oil production achieves the national certification but the government’s target is for 100% by the end of 2019. To achieve this goal, the government will loop in NGOs as well as state governments to engage with smallholder farmers. The tie up also aims to secure development for downstream palm oil production.
