Shree Renuka to boost ethanol production up to 30% in next 6-8 months

In India, thanks to the government’s policy to boost prices for ethanol produced from sugarcane juice by 25%, Bloomberg reports that Shree Renuka plans to boost ethanol production also by 25% -30% from the current 1.2 billion liters in the next half year. With the equivalent of the world’s sugar surplus sitting as surplus in India, the industry is looking for any way it can to reduce sugar and producing ethanol has been identified as the most logical way to achieve that goal.
