India’s Patna may get $441 million MSW-to-biodiesel facility

September 17, 2018 |

In India, a facility to process 700 metric tons of fresh MSW and 300 tons of old MSW into biodiesel, power and water in the city of Patna has been proposed by a New Delhi-based company. The $441 million project would see the company collect MSW throughout the city for free to secure necessary feedstock. The company plans to produce water by extracting moisture from the MSW while the biodiesel would be produced after an intermediate gasification step. The facility should be up and running within 15 months of signing the contract with the city.
