Waste-to-energy key part of India’s policy strategy

In India, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council says waste-to-energy is a key priority for the PM as a way to reduce energy poverty and increase environmental sustainability through value-based waste management. The country is beginning to collaborate with countries like Japan whose best practices can help to formulate plans to implement policies supporting waste-to-energy as well as transfer technology and knowhow. Several bilateral agreements between India and Japan have been put into place recently in the areas of environment that include waste management where waste-to-energy plays a big role.
