China imports ethanol from US via Indonesia again

December 27, 2018 |

In China, Platts reports that the country is again likely importing US ethanol via Indonesia as a result of the ongoing trade war between the US and China. November imports soared in November to 94,051 cu m compared to just 16,043 cu m in October with 59,924 cu m of November’s imports coming from Indonesia. Indonesia doesn’t produce very much ethanol at all but had exported ethanol to China three months ago. Malaysia also exports ethanol to China but doesn’t produce much either, but it did import ethanol from the US in September. It hasn’t exported to China in two months.
