UFOP publishes integrated pest management guidelines for rapeseed cultivation

December 29, 2018 |

In Germany, UFOP’s guidelines on rapeseed cultivation describe the implementation of the eight general principles of integrated pest management in accordance with the current phytosanitary legislation in force in the EU.

The voluntary development and implementation of such guidelines is enshrined in the National Action Plan for the Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products (NAPs). In the general part, an overview of the plant protection measures in rapeseed cultivation is given and the instruments of integrated pest management are described. In the special part, the guideline deals with weeds and grass weeds, growth-regulating measures, animal pests, fungal diseases and viruses. In a supplementary chapter the requirements of summer rape are presented.

The aim of the guideline is to support advice and practice in the implementation of integrated pest management through a practical language as well as up-to-date visual material to address harmful organisms and symptoms. It contains both best practices and alternative practices and evidence of new methods. This is associated with a reduction of the application risks of pesticides as well as an application within the necessary limits.
