Enerkem looking at Massachusetts to possibly site new WTE plant

January 7, 2019 |

In Massachusetts, Enerkem is said to be looking at the state’s southern coast as a potential site for a waste-to-ethanol project using material from the local waste disposal company ABC Disposal’s new recycling center near Rochester. Enerkem told a local newspaper that new facilities would have two production lines rather than the single one its first plant in Edmonton, Alberta has, meaning double the production to 20 million gallons annually. Massachusetts is not the only state under consideration for the next US-based plant, however.
