Bids and offer heard for US origin ethanol to China for first time since July

January 23, 2019 |

In China, Platts reports that bids and offers for US origin ethanol are being heard after practically no trade since July due to the ongoing, but potentially easing, trade war between the US and China. Bids were offered for $450-460/ton CFR China while an offer was made for $510/ton CFR China for prompt shipment of a 35,000-ton cargo. Import duty is still currently at 70% but if it was rolled back to 30%, traders are confident US product would again flow into the Chinese market.
