Sweden’s aviation biofuel mandate ambitions tempered by lack of supply availability

In Sweden, the Local reports that a proposal to introduce a biofuel blending mandate for aviation by 2025 is being weakened by the lack of available supplies that keeps a mandate with any teeth from being brought into place, according to local press. Though a mandate is likely for 2021, it will only be for 1% blending as a result. By 2025, the former Green Party leader who is looking at options for the mandate hopes more supply will be available to reach a target that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30%.
