India produced 510 million liters from ethanol from B-heavy molasses and cane juice through February

In India, local press reports that the Indian Sugar Mills Association says 510 million liters of ethanol have been produced from B-heavy molasses and straight sugarcane juice for the first time ever, reducing sugar availability by about 500,000 metric tons. Of that, about 120 million liters has been supplied for blending by oil marketing companies between October and February. The government deregulated biofuel feedstocks last year in an effort to boost production as well as to help out sugar mills suffering from low sugar prices.
