March 12, 2019 |

In Brazil, Platts reports that UNICA data shows sugar mills continued to produce ethanol well into the second half of February with a total of 74 million liters of ethanol produced during the period. However, due to increased demand for hydrous ethanol, 35 million liters of anhydrous ethanol was reprocessed into hydrous, bring the total to 109 million liters. Total ethanol production from April 1 to February 28 reached nearly 34.5 billion liters, more than 19% higher on the year thanks to mills diverting 64.6% of sugarcane towards ethanol production rather than sugar.
