More than 13% of ethanol production halted due to Midwest floods

March 25, 2019 |

In Nebraska, Reuters reports that at least 13% of the country’s ethanol production has been shuttered as a result of massive flooding across the Midwest, with as much as 104,000 bpd currently offline. Plants in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota have been hit the hardest. Lack of transportation due to flooded rail lines as well as well as corn lost to damaged storage silos like those seen in dramatic news photos in recent days are keeping fuel from being transported and feedstock from arriving or even being shipped.
