Argentine biodiesel producer says policy forcing it to shut down facility

April 29, 2019 |

In Argentina, Clarin newspaper reports that the government’s policy for setting biodiesel prices has made its Viluco facility in Frias completely inviable so has had to shut it down. The facility was built to supply the domestic market but it says that prices based on export demand, and therefore prices below the required margin, as well as the quota program destroyed any possibility for its survival. As a result, the company laid off all 117 of its employees.
