Strategie Grains revises 2019/20 rapeseed production estimate lower to 2006/07 low

In France, Reuters reports that Strategie Grains says European rapeseed production is likely to fall to 17.8 million metric tons during the 2019/20, down from its previous estimate of 18.85 million tons for the season following projection cuts in Germany and France as well as minor producers including Romania and Poland. The overall view is about 11% lower than 2018/19 production and the smallest since 2006/07. Last year’s drought led to reduced planting area for this season. Lower production is in turn expected to drive increased imports from Australia and the Black Sea.
