Some Iowans question Biden’s biofuel stance due to former role in reducing RFS mandate

June 11, 2019 |

In Iowa, Reuters reports that former Vice President Joe Biden is touring the state as part of his campaign to seek the Democratic nomination for President where he’s coming face to face with his 2014 involvement with cutting biofuel blending mandates to help struggling refiners. His campaign platform strongly supports advanced biofuels and increasing its role under the Renewable Fuel Standard as he seeks to achieve a 100% clean energy economy by 2050. Iowa farmers, however, are skeptical considering his support of refiners in the past, though he has said he won’t take any oil contributions for his campaign.
