May biodiesel production up 2 million tons over April

In Washington, Platts reports that Energy Information Agency data shows that biodiesel production rose in May to 154 million tons, 2 million tons higher than in April. Of the total, 69% was produced in the Midwest while nearly 56% of feedstock was soybean oil. Corn oil and yellow grease were the two largest feedstocks after soybean oil. Total installed production capacity is currently 2.5 billion gallons per year from 99 biodiesel plants across the country.
