Thailand to revive napier grass for biogas project

August 12, 2019 |

In Thailand, the Bangkok Post newspaper reports that the government is looking to revive a proposed project from 2012-2013 that would produce biogas from napier grass in line with a national push for increased bioenergy production. Most of the country’s strategic plan to boost biogas production to 546MW by 2037 relies on animal manure for feedstock but this project would encourage farmers to start growing the giant grass as an alternative crop so farmers without livestock can participate while also diversifying feedstock supplies.
