September 9, 2019 |

In Zimbabwe, the Herald newspaper reports that the country’s main ethanol producer Green Fuel has doubled its ethanol production capacity to 380,000 liters per day in an effort to help reduce fossil fuel imports. The additional supply allows blending of 20% ethanol which can reduce fossil fuel imports by $10 million per month. As a result of increased ethanol blending, gasoline prices at the pump has fallen below the price of diesel, but drivers have been complaining recently of lower mileage, an issue which has been sent to the standards bureau for investigation.
