US Grains Council has high hopes for ethanol in Asia even with China out of the picture

September 11, 2019 |

In Singapore, Reuters reports that the US Grains Council sees Asia as a major market for increased ethanol imports, where it current exports about 300 million gallons per year but could reach 1 billion gallons in the next five years. With the ongoing trade war with China that has hit ethanol demand hard, that target has been wound down from 1.5 billion gallons previously. With China out of the picture, Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam come into focus, in addition to the Philippines which has already been a regular importer of US-origin ethanol.
