China dialing back its E10 ambitions on lack of feedstock

September 17, 2019 |

In China, Reuters reports that the country is looking to scale back its ethanol ambitions which had been aiming for a 10% ethanol blend on the back of reduced corn availability. With ethanol stocks falling to a more manageable 57 million metric tons from more than 200 million tons in 2017 mixed with the failure of its industry to ramp up ethanol production in time to reach the 2020 mandate, tripling its ethanol production isn’t feasible. A lack of corn has been the main inhibitor to boosting ethanol production.
