Indonesia may reinstate palm oil export levy from January 1

September 30, 2019 |

In Indonesia, Reuters reports that the government has decided it won’t collect export levies on palm oil of $10-$50 per metric ton until January 1 after putting them on hold in December 2018. The levy depends on the price of palm oil with a reference price of $570. Palm oil prices have been very low so haven’t yet triggered the threshold where levies can be applied, but next month palm oil prices could reach about $574.9, according to trade ministry estimates.
