Trump says ethanol deal will boost demand to nearly 16 billion gallons

In Washington, Reuters reports that President Trump estimates that the deal announced last Friday to make up for the demand destruction resulting from the 31 hardship waivers approved in August will bring ethanol blending up to nearly 16 billion gallons from the current 15-billion-gallon mandate. The missing gallons resulting from the hardship waivers brought that figure down, potentially well below 14 billion gallons, so getting up closer to 16 billion gallons is meant to offset that drop in demand.
