Indonesian palm oil and biodiesel exports sank in August to 2.89 million tons

October 17, 2019 |

In Indonesia, Reuters reports that exports of palm oil, biodiesel and oleochemical exports sank in August to just 2.89 million metric tons from 3.3 million tons during the same period last year and 2.92 million tons in July as top importer India reduced its imports due to 50% import duties. Higher exports to China and the Middle East weren’t sufficient to make up for the significant drop in Indian demand. India is now looking to potentially reduce imports of palm oil products from Malaysia because of the country’s negative comments regarding India’s actions in Kashmir.
