House committee hears requests for more transparency in hardship waiver rules

In Washington, Platts reports that the hearing held in the House of Representative’s energy and commerce committee on Tuesday regarding the small refinery hardship waivers under the Renewable Fuel Standard heard testimony seeking waiver applications be made public and that a deadline of June 1 be set for applications every year. The oil industry is against the proposed measures, saying they could jeopardize the viability of small refiners because it would effectively stop them from applying.
