Brazilian soybean demand for biodiesel seen jumping on B15 plans but palm oil missing out

In Brazil, Successful Farming reports that soybean demand is set to increase to 30 million metric tons by 2023 in order to produce 5.7 million tons of oil on the back of the country’s B15 blending mandate that will be in place by then. Currently, soybean oil accounts for 70% of biodiesel feedstock, but some analysts say it would be more efficient to produce biodiesel from the country’s palm oil industry rather than relying upon soy.
