In Indonesia, the Jakarta Post reports that the five-month road test using 30% blended biodiesel, B30, has been completed and showed similar performance in in power, emissions and fuel consumption compared to B20. The test used 11 vehicles that were driven up to 50,000 kilometers using B30 before the government’s mandate to increase biodiesel blends goes into effect in early 2020.

“Based on the B30 road test results, we can say the B30 policy is ready to be implemented on diesel engine vehicles starting Jan. 1, 2020,” the The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry’s research and development head Dadan Kusdiana told Jakarta Post. Dadan also told the Jakarta Post that using B30 lowered all emission levels except for nitrogen dioxide and noted that vehicles would need more engine filter changes when they first start using B30.
