Shrinking European tallow availability due to biofuel demand to hit oleic acid as well

December 30, 2019 |

In the UK, ICIS reports that increased demand for biodiesel in Europe is seen pressuring tallow supplies which is expected to increase prices, potentially to the point of making them unviable as feedstock. In the meantime, as European countries look towards advanced biofuels and the use of waste feedstocks as they move away from crop-based biofuels, limited tallow supplies are expected to shrink availability for oleic acid in 2020 as already began during the last half of 2019.
