January 8, 2020 |

In California, Reuters is reporting that McDonalds and Impossible Foods have broken off supplier talks as Impossible has signaled that it would be unable to meet the production volumes that McDonalds would require. Shares of rival Beyond Meat jumped more than 12 percent on  the news. Meanwhile, Burger King is continuing its Impossible rollout and the San Francisco-based advanced foods company chose the Consumer Electronics Show to unveil its new poor without the pig offering. Impossible said that it was aiming to double its production to meet existing demand rather than try and take on a major new customer of the size of McDonalds. The burger chain has been trialing its latest plant-based offering, the PLT, in Canada over the past 12 weeks.
