In Kenya, Business Daily Africa reports that following the reconnection of the power supply to Mumias Sugar, once the national sugar industry’s shining star which has fallen into extreme financial ruin, ethanol production will restart on Friday. Currently the miller isn’t crushing but is buying bagasse and molasses from Butali Sugar Mills in order to kickstart ethanol production that will allow it to generate revenue so it can buy sugarcane from farmers to restart the mill.
