Alcogroup and Abengoa to fight EU’s claims of ethanol price manipulation at hearings

January 28, 2020 |

In Belgium, Reuters reports that Alcogroup and Abengoa plan to fight against anti-trust charges of manipulating ethanol prices at hearings in front of the European Commission and national authorities on Tuesday and Wednesday. The companies could be charged up to 10% of the global turnover if the hearing rules against them, or the case could be dropped. Following 2013 raids, investigations into Shell, BP and Statoil were dropped in 2018 when official charges against Alcogroup, Abengoa and Lantmannen were made.
