Democrats picking up favor in Iowa thanks to Trump’s ethanol mishandling

In Iowa, Reuters reports that ahead of the Iowa caucuses, farmers remain angry at how President Trump has handled ethanol policy, especially the issuance of hardship waivers for small oil refineries that led to billions of gallons of demand destruction that wasn’t satisfactorily resolved with the 2020 renewable volume obligation. As such, Democrats may have an opening against the president to make headway in the upcoming election, using ethanol as a sore spot that could in turn help to swing the state away from Republicans come November.
