Indian sugar mills offer only a fraction of ethanol required at latest tender

In India, Cogencis news agency reports that sugar mills have offered only 315 million liters of ethanol to oil marketing companies during the most recent buy tender that sought 2.53 billion liters. Two of the 48 mills that presented offers were rejected for failure to submit proper paperwork. The recent droughts in Maharashtra and Karnataka that were later followed by floods at the end of 2019 negatively impacted the availability of cane and therefore feedstock to supply the required ethanol.
