B100 demand falls in Thailand on back of COVID-19 demand impacts

April 22, 2020 |

In Thailand, the Nation newspaper reports that production and consumption of B100 fell by as much as a quarter over the past week as COVID-19 quarantine orders keep people off the road. Higher palm oil prices led to slightly higher biodiesel prices despite the fall in demand. Ethanol demand has increased, however, in line with need for ethanol to produce disinfectants and sanitizers to battle the spread of the disease. Drought and lower production of both sugarcane and cassava led to a slight increase in ethanol prices as well.
