Cellulosic Sugar Producers Cooperative closes down

May 4, 2020 |

In Canada, Blackburn News reports that farmer-owned Cellulosic Sugar Producers Cooperative has closed its doors. The coop was set up to provide feedstock to the Comet Biorefining project in Sarnia but those plans were put on hold a year ago, so membership shares and investments made by farmers were given back and the business wound up to stop ongoing costs. More than 30,000 acres of biomass produced by 118 farmers were brought together under the auspices of the coop.
