Lucas E3 teams with Maracaja Bioenergia on corn-based Mato Grosso ethanol plant

May 7, 2020 |

In Brazil, Reuters reports Lucas E3 has teamed with Maracaja Bioenergia to build a corn-based ethanol plant in Matupa, Mato Grosso despite the ethanol market having crashed there due to COVID-19. The companies are convinced demand will rebound once the lockdown has lifted. Production should begin in 1.5 years by which time they expect the situation to have normalized. The facility is located near a key grains export hub that will facilitate sales to the deficit Northeast region that typically imports significant quantities of ethanol from the US as well as for export markets.
