Kenya bans GMO food imports

In Kenya, Public Health Minister Beth Mugo announced the complete ban on imported GMO foodstuffs, and that the ban would stay in place until such time as testing could be completed regarding health and safety. Mugo further stated that the ban follows a ministry for GMO ban. Mugo stated, “I am calling upon all stakeholders and government regulators involved in importation of GMO foods to take note of this directive that no importation of GMO foods will be allowed into the country until further advice by the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.”
