Wellcome Trust launches $326 million investment arm
In the United Kingdom, Wellcome Trust has launched Syncona Partners as an investment arm with initial capital in the amount of $326 million. Bloomberg reports that this fund will invest from £1 million to £20 million in biotechnology startups, with a focus on diagnostics, information-technology, medical devices and therepeutics. Martin Murphy, Syncona CEO was quoted as saying, “We expect to play our part in building successful businesses based upon innovation within the life science and health-care industry.”
