Indian officials admit far short of ethanol for meeting E5 goal

Indian officials admitted recently in an article published in the Times of India that they are far short of the ethanol acquisitions needed to make E5 a reality. India projects that it will have acquired 60 million gallons of ethanol by year end, with a minimum of 130 million gallons needed to fulfill the E5 requirement. The admission comes as India contemplates imposing an E10 standard, which would require ethanol acquisition at levels the officials stated they had no way of meeting at the preset time.

India is known to be taking a strong interest in Brazilian ethanol, with several Indian companies expressing interest in acquiring ethanol production facilities there.
