In Nebraska, Cornhusker Energy is seeking $157 million needed to finance expansion of its production capacity to 128 million gallons per year (Mgy) from 42 Mgy.
The Lexington, NE City Council has been asked to approve $35 million to $40 million in industrial development revenue bonds to help finance the expansion.
Numerous ethanol plants have looked at increasing capacity, as plants that produce less than 100 Mgy have been described as potentially uncompetitive in the long-term ethanol market.
