US House and Senate Farm bills contrasted

A comparison of differences between the US House and Senate fuel bills was published in the Washington Post.

Key contrasts cited by the Post included: average vehicle fuel efficiency mandates (in the Senate bill, not in the House bill);  renewable-energy standard for utilities (in the House bill, not in the Senate bill); minimum level of ethanol consumption nationwide (in the Senate bill, not in the House bill); taxes for oil companies and and tax incentives for renewables and energy efficiency (in the House bill, not in the Senate bill).

President Bush has convened an international summit on climate change in Washington in September, and has targeted December 2008 to finalize a treaty.
