Biox announces impending IPO, to become first public biodiesel producer in Canada

In Canada, Biox Corp. announced plans for an IPO to raise $150 million in new capital. Biox produces 15.8 Mgy at its Halmilton, Ontario facility and plans to open new facilities in Ontario, Quebec and the US.

With the IPO, Biox will become the first public Canadian biodiesel company. SunOpta and Lignol Energy are among the handful of public Canadian biofuels companies.

The IPO comes as speculation mounts as to the timing and extent of a Canadian biofuels mandate. The government is expected to mandate B2 biodiesel by 2012.
