Scania inks deal to supply ethanol-powered buses for São Paolo public transit conversion
In Sweden, Scania announced a deal with the Brazilian government to test Scania’s ethanol-powered buses in São Paulo public transport, with service to commence in October. The project will be a cornerstone of the BioEthanol for Sustainable Transport project which started in Sweden and is now in ten cities around the world. Scania supplies the buses for the project, which is partially financed by the European Union. The project also includes the construction of ethanol refueling stations, and is now located in Stockholm, Rotterdam, Dublin, La Spezia , Madrid, and Nanyang.
Brazil’s President Lula has been on a four-nation Scandinavian tour to promote biofuels trade. Sweden imports its ethanol from Brazil.
