Chevron Technology Ventures partners with C2 biofuels on forest product biofuel research

Chevron Technology Ventures has partnered with Georgia Tech, C2 Biofuels, the Georgia Research Alliance and one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s new BioEnergy Research Centers to explore the production of biofuels from forest products.

Recently, the Chevron CEO continued the oil industry’s assault on biofuels, stating that biofuels are responsible for rising food prices. The timing of the two announcements has suggested to industry observers that Chevron is complaining about biofuels because it is behind BP and Shell in its biofuel initiatives. Chevron has traditionally been a leader in fuel technologies research and development, having pioneered the Saudi Arabian oil fields, the foundation of Aramco, and several performance additives for gasoline fuel.
