In Australia, farmers indicated overwhelming support for ethanol mandates. 61 percent of surveyed farmers supported mandates, with 20 percent undecided and 18 percent opposed.
The results surprised some observers because more than 50% of farmers surveyed raised livestock. Livestock feed prices have increased globally this year, which has been linked by anti-biofuels activists to increased crop use for biofuel production.
